The Non-Negotiables That Changed My Health as a Busy Mom (Part 3): I Don't Deprive Myself

Why Deprivation Never Works Long-Term

Deprivation looks like discipline on the surface.

But it usually leads to:

  • Overthinking food

  • Losing control later

That’s not a willpower issue.

That’s what happens when your body feels overly restricted.

What Deprivation Actually Does

When you deprive yourself, your brain responds with urgency:

  • Thoughts about food increase

  • Cravings get louder

  • Binges feel inevitable

  • Guilt follows

This isn’t a lack of self-control.

It’s your body trying to protect you.

What I Do Instead

This is how I stay consistent:

  • I prioritize protein at every meal

  • I eat enough throughout the day

The Takeaway

I don’t deprive myself because deprivation always comes back louder.

Eat enough NOW so you don’t overeat later.
